OMG What a Mess! Reducing the Clutter

As I sit here with Spirit this morning, I am reminded of how important it is to be able to step forward in life, whether in your relationships, health and well-being, career and finances or even in your business with clean and clear energy so that you are able to manifest and co-create fresh new opportunities, loving and beautiful experiences as well as more loving, joyful and fulfilling relationships.

Sounds pretty easy right....Clean and clear energy, yep tick, I can do that! Well, most of you know that it is important to set direct and clear intentions with the Universe about what it is that you are wanting to create in your life as you move forward as well as how it is that you want to feel when you have what-ever it is that you are asking for to appear in your world. However, have you ever felt like no matter how much you focus on being positive, staying present to what you are being intuitively guided to do you keep going around in circles or like you are taking one step forward and two steps backwards? Well, the reason this might be happening is because you have clutter, which is essentially fear, blocking you in from success. Before you can move forward and allow all the awesome and amazing things that you are asking to have manifest in your world to appear, you need to clear and clean out the clutter, which you might be holding onto or living with around:

  • Home

  • Relationships

  • Physical Body

  • Job or Workplace

  • Money and Finances

Now for most people clutter, or fear, can have a physical, mental, emotional or even spiritual basis and will often present itself through your physical environment, so it is important to take an honest look at what it is that your clutter is telling you needs to be cleared and cleaned in order to create space for the new! The best way to do this is by taking a slow and honest walk around your home or business environment and while you do so ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Is it clean, tidy and organised?

  2. Is there a large amount of 'old' stuff?

  3. Is there any paper clutter?

  4. Is it minor clutter?

  5. Is it happily cluttered?

  6. Is it messy?

  7. Are you too embarrassed to let someone in?

  8. Is there anything started but not finished?

If you find that you have an area that is not clean, is untidy and disorganised or has anything in it which has been started but not finished, then this is more than likely reflecting to you a lack of focus, a short attention span, too many things going on at the same time, double-handling (looking at things over and over again) and a pattern of procrastination or avoidance, which can leave you feeling exhausted, drained and confused about what step to take next. So, if this is you, then it is important that you take one step at a time, get organised and focused by simply moving or taking action on one thing at a time so that you are able to feel and experience success and completions before you move forward with the next task, opportunity or even relationship.

If you have a large amount of 'old' stuff, then this is more than likely reflecting to you a struggle to let go of the past, holding onto things that 'tell a story', holding onto items for sentimental purposes or that you are living in the past which really just keeps you experiencing the past, holds you back, continues bringing up old emotional wounds and quite simply creates a massive block to the future that you are actually wanting to create. You do not need to remove all old items, it is important to look at each of them and ask yourself 'why' you are holding onto it or them. The following questions might help you with this process:

  • Do i love this item?

  • What's the special story behind it - love or fear based?

  • Do you have space for it?

  • Can it be or is it easily replaced?

  • Can you take a photo with it but get rid of it?

If you have a lot of paper clutter, whether in the form of piles and piles of papers, things to action, things to file, bills to pay, bills that had been paid, notices, to-do lists or just mountains of magazines and newspapers this could be reflecting feelings of overwhelm, stress, anxiety or worry, scattered thoughts, unconscious beliefs blocking your success, feelings of being unable to control situations, events or experiences around you and like things are completely take over and creating CHAOS! If this is your style of clutter then it is time to get clear and organised which you can doing using the following steps:

  1. Bring it all together

  2. Get it organised by using a system such as 'to be filed', 'requires action', 'can be delegated' or 'discard it' pile

  3. Prepare yourself by scheduling an hour at the start or end of your day (whatever works for you) to move through the paper piles

  4. Take action each day by filing, actioning or discarding the papers as necessary

If you are able to move through your physical environment and identify the type of clutter you have and then link it to specific areas of your life, whether relationships, business, career, finances, physical health and well-being then you will be able to start cleaning and clearing yourself of the emotional, mental and spiritual 'stuff' that has been holding you back and once again begin to move towards what it is that you want. Remember, you can't reach for anything new if your hands are still full of yesterday's junk.
